シドニーに着いてまた出国ゲートを出るまで1時間。
意外にすんなり通過できた。これからニュージーランドのクライストチャーチへ。

入管では係官から滞在日数を「One die?」と聞かれて、「死」の文字が頭に浮かぶ。
すぐにオーストラリア訛りの「One day?」だと思い直すが、やはりいきなりだと戸惑う。
今日これから乗り換えだと答えると、彼はゆっくりと「to die」と繰り返した。

三日後にまたシドニーに戻るから、またここを通ることになる。
入管は普通の英語を話してほしいなあ。

Arrived in Sydney and transfering to Christchurch.
At immigration, “One die?” the officer asked the term of stay.
I understand “1day” right away, but it’s strange to hear.
I responded to transfer today, and he repeated “to die”.

After 3days I’ll be back to Sydney.
I have to talk to the officer again…
